Privacy notice

Last updated: 30 September 2026

This notice explains how we handle personal data in Langer — the web app, the mobile app and this website, including its sign-up form.

Who we are

The controller of your data is MB „Įdarbintas intelektas“, Lithuania, the developer of Langer AI. You can reach us at hello@langer.chat.

Your account

To create an account, you give us your email address, a password and the name others will see, and you choose your language. We keep the password only as a secure hash. Langer gives you a username and an account ID.

You can add a photo, a phone number and the voice your translations are read in.

If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address — and from Google, your profile picture — and keep the link to that account. Google and Apple handle your data on their side under their own privacy policies.

Messages, calls and translation

We store the messages you send and their translations, with the time, the languages and whether they have been delivered and read.

To translate a text, we send it to OpenAI. When you speak — in the translator or in a call — the app streams your voice to our server, which passes it to Google Cloud to turn it into text; the text is then translated the same way, and Google Cloud can read the translation aloud. We do not keep recordings of your voice.

For each call, we keep who called whom, when, for how long and in which languages, and the text of what each of you said, with its translation.

What other people see

Anyone signed in to Langer can find you by your username, or by your exact email address or phone number, and see your name, username, photo and language. If you would rather not be found, write to us.

The people you talk to see your messages and what you say in calls, translated into their language, and whether you have read their messages. People who have added you as a contact see when you are online.

The sign-up form on this website

In the form you give us your email address and, if you choose to, your name, your role (beta tester, investor or partner), your company, the languages and platforms you need, and a message. We also note the language of the page you signed up on and, if you came through a link with a campaign tag, the name of that campaign.

We use these details only to invite you to the beta, to send you information about Langer you asked for (for example, the investor deck) and to understand which languages and platforms people need.

Technical data

Like any online service, our servers process your IP address and details of your browser or device to deliver the service and protect it from abuse. They are stored with your sign-in sessions and, while you are connected, with your connection, and they appear in our servers’ technical logs.

Why, and on what legal basis

We process your account, messages, calls and translations to provide Langer to you under our terms of service (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).

We process technical data and logs to keep Langer secure and working, and may use data to establish or defend legal claims, based on our legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Where the law requires us to keep or disclose data, we do so to comply with it (Article 6(1)(c) GDPR).

We use the details from the sign-up form based on your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR).

Translation is automatic, but we make no decisions about you by automated means.

Who processes data for us

Besides the Langer team and the people you talk to, only these providers process your data — on our behalf, under data processing agreements:

Amazon Web Services — our servers and the emails we send, in Ireland;

MongoDB Atlas — our database, in Frankfurt, Germany;

OpenAI — translation of text, in the United States;

Google Cloud — speech recognition and speech synthesis, which can take place outside the European Economic Area.

Where data leaves the European Economic Area, it is protected by the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses or by an adequacy decision, such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. We never sell your data and never use it for advertising.

How long we keep it

Your account, profile and contacts: until you delete your account.

Messages: until they are deleted — you can delete your own messages, and either of you can delete a whole conversation — or until either of you deletes the account. Deleting a message erases its text at once.

Calls: the record of a call is deleted 30 days after it ends; what was said, with its translation, after 90 days.

Speech we generate for you: one day.

Sign-in sessions, with their IP address and browser or device: until you sign out, or until they expire 30 days after they were last used. Password reset links stop working after an hour and are then deleted.

Server logs: up to three months.

Sign-up form details: until the beta programme ends or you withdraw your consent, whichever comes first.

When you delete your account, we delete your profile, photos, contacts, conversations and calls at once — for the people you talked to as well — together with any sign-up on this website made with the same email address.

Cookies and storage

This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics or tracking tools.

The web app uses only the cookies it needs to keep you signed in and to complete a sign-in with Google safely, and remembers your interface language in your browser.

The mobile app keeps your sign-in in the device’s secure storage, and a copy of your profile and your settings on the device; signing out removes the sign-in and the profile copy.

Neither app uses analytics, advertising or tracking tools.

Children

Langer is not meant for children under 16. If you believe a child under 16 has an account, write to us and we will delete it.

Your rights

You can change your profile and delete your account yourself in the app’s settings.

You can also ask us for a copy of your data, also in a machine-readable format, ask us to correct or delete it, restrict or object to its processing, and withdraw your consent at any time — just write to hello@langer.chat. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that happened before.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the State Data Protection Inspectorate of Lithuania (vdai.lrv.lt) or with the data protection authority in your country.

Changes to this notice

When we change this notice, we update the date at the top. We will tell you about important changes in advance, by email or in the app.
